I saw this scavenger hunt done by Bookworm Book Club and it was really cool, so I decided to do it too! I tried to find the original poster and as far as I can figure out it was originally created by The Library of Sarah, but her video post has been deleted.
If you read my last Lit Cube Reveal I said I was going to start trying to take “cool” pictures (often refered to as “Bookstagram” pictures) So this post is also my first attempt at that. I didn’t try that hard, it was more just a quick dip to see high level what works and what doesn’t.
1. Find an author name or title with a Z in it.
I ran out of room using my bookshelf traditionally, so some of my stacking gets a little creative
2. Find a classic.
There are at least two classics in my picture for #1. Can you find them? Here is another classic I have:
3. Find a book with a key on it.
I cheated a little with this one. The closest I could find was the word “Key” but no picture. I added my Pirates of the Caribbean key so technically it has a key on it.
4. Find something on your bookshelf that is not a book.
I have lots of things on my bookshelves that are not books, but here are all my funko pop figurines:
5. Find the oldest book on your shelf.
I am not sure which one is actually older. Egypt’s Queen was published in 1963, but my copy is a third printing from 1964. (I got it from my Great Grandma) Silver Doll was published in 1952, but my copy is a re-print. I couldn’t figure out what year it was printed in. (I got it at a garage sale)
6. Find a book with a girl on it.
I thought these looked cool with the girls on the spines, so I chose all three of them.
7. Find a book that has an animal in it.
There are lots of animals in this one! Also I like using my Funko Pops in the pictures. I like how it turned out.
8. Find a book with a male protagonist.
Indiana Jones is awesome! I even dressed up as him for Halloween once:
9. Find a book with only words on the cover.
This was my Mom’s dictionary in college. It is the 9th edition, I believe the newest edition is the 11th.
10. Find a book with illustrations in it.
This is one of my favorite graphic novels. Its got really cool illustrations.
11. Find a book with gold lettering.
I tried to add all the gold things I could find into the picture. All I could find is Gold $1 coins and Dr. Strange.
12. Find a diary, true or fictional.
I really liked how this picture turned out even though it was super simple.
13. Find a book written by and author with a common name (like Smith).
Both “Stephanie” and “Meyer” are common names.
14. Find a book with a close up of something on it.
These were all next to each other and I couldn’t decide which one to use so I used them all.
15. Find a hardcover book without a jacket.
I think this was my Sister’s book. I have no idea what happened to the jacket.
16. Find a teal/turquoise colored book.
Funny story about this book. I have no idea where this book came from. I don’t remember ever having seen it before. But when I pulled it out because of the color I got really excited because it is the same author that wrote The Golden Compass. I guess it was super silly of me, but I didn’t realize he had written anything else.
17. Find a book with stars on it.
I love to color and I love Disney so I love this book! Also coloring books totally count as books.
18. Find a non YA book.
I bet everyone else does boring old adult books for this one, but I went the opposite way and picked a children’s book. Also the book has nothing to do with trains, but it was a toy that I had handy for the pic and I didn’t have a train book.
In case you guys were curious, here are pictures of my “Library” where I took all the pictures:
And yes, that is a giant bean bag that is great for reading on!
Let me know if you do this tag! It was a lot of fun, and I discovered some books on my bookshelves that I didn’t even know I had.
