How I choose my books Tag

I found this book tag at Paper Eyed Girl and thought it would be a lot of fun!  Its kind of a two-in-one tag where you have to find certain books on your selves and then explain what made you choose them!

Find a book on your shelves or e-reader with a blue cover. What made you want to pick up this book?

I have lots and lots of blue covers and I couldn’t pick just one!

The Fault in Our Stars – My sister recommended this to me and she rarely reads so I figured I would give it a try.

The Selection – This one just sounded awesome.  Sort of like a Cinderella rags-to-riches story with some competition thrown in!

Endure – I picked this one up because it was the next book in the Defy series and I had already read the first two

Harriet The Spy – I haven’t actually read this book yet, but I loved the movie as a kid!

Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy, but did. Why did you want to read it in the first place?

I wasn’t sure I was going to like this because it seemed super dark and I don’t like stories where girls fall in love blindly with cruel men, but there was so much hype surrounding it that I was curious and ended up loving it!

Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick a book at random. How did you discover this book?

My mom tried to sell this, along with a bunch of other books, at our garage sale.  The ones that didn’t sell I went through and picked out anything that looked even remotely good.  I haven’t read this one yet, but I have read a good chunk of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.

Pick a book that someone personally recommended to you. What did you think of it?

Phil recommended these to me and I absolutely love them! I can’t wait for the 9th volume to come out!

Pick a book that you discovered through YouTube/book blogs. Did it live up to the hype?

I know I used this one already but its the only book I could think of for either category! I loved this book!

Find a book on your shelves or e-reader with a one-word title. What drew you to this book?

I bought this in a little coastal bookstore.  I had never heard of an “Advanced Reader Copy” at that point.  I thought it meant the writing was more advanced and I was super confused why they would publish two reading levels for the same book.  The owner kindly explained to me what it was and I was intrigued.  I later learned that selling and buying ARCs is a no-no, but I only paid $4 for it and ended up really liking it.

What book did you discover through a film/TV adaptation?

I loved this movie and watched it a bunch of times before I learned it was a book.  Of course, I had to get the book immediately! I loved it!

Think of your all-time favorite book(s). When did you read these and why did you pick them up in the first place?

Pride and Prejudice! I first read P&P in high school.  I think it was my sophomore year.  I fell in love with it!  I have a special shelf dedicated to Jane Austen books and P&P spin-offs.

This was a fun tag! I like searching though my bookshelves so find books that fit each category 🙂  I am not going to tag anyone but please play if you want to! Let me know if you do, I would love to see your answers!

  1. This was a really fun tag! I just started The Cruel Prince, and I’m hoping it’s as good as everyone is saying!

Also, The Section is so good! Not an all-time favorite, but definitely entertaining

      1. I like it! The prologue definitely has me really interested, but the way the author describes the setting is a bit slower. And I hate Cardan so much it’s making it hard to read 😂

  2. Ah I have such fond memories of Harriet the Spy! 🙂 Glad you enjoyed Cruel Prince- I need to read it! And I’m looking forward to checking out Saga. I’ve also been meaning to read Princess Bride for years (I love the movie!) Loved your answers!

    1. Princess Bride is one of my favorite books so I definitely recommend it! I really liked Saga but beware it is very mature at times (full frontal nude tv headed men) I don’t have a problem with it, but I was surprised. So just don’t leave it where any kiddos might have access to it 😉
