This is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, but kept up by Lynn’s Book Blog.
“Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the earth.”
This weeks theme: A cover featuring a dinosaur(s)
My Choice: Jurassic Park
I know this is a pretty boring choice, but the only books I have read with dinosaurs on the cover are “Don’t Forget Dexter” and “All My Friends are Dead” and they don’t have multiple covers! So I am going to go with the classic today!

I am surprised and impressed with the lack of movie covers. There are really only two that seem like movie covers to me. (Tatran 1993 and Heyne 2013). I was also impressed with how many good covers there are! There is a decent amount of variety and there are very few I don’t like.
Worst Covers:
Best Covers:
Special Mention:
This cover is just so ridiculous that I needed to call it out! It doesn’t fit into the worst or best categories, its just … different.
Winner:
This was an impossible decision to pick just one! I really like all of the “Best Covers.” But my eye kept coming back to this one. I like the contrast of the red and the white and the black, and I like the little butterfly that looks like it is about to be eaten.
Which is your favorite? Do you agree with my pick? Let me know in the comments!
Agree with your pick. I find the red really eye-catching. Of course some of those covers the dinosaurs are actually adorable!

Yes! Tho I would say they are probably too adorable for the content of the book 😂

Awesomely compiled list! I think I prefer the original “Spielberg” logo one. It’s so familiar and brings back so many memories for me of enjoying the original movie as a kid.

Thanks! And there are lots of them with the logo haha. I really like the one that is almost all black with the logo (Robert Laffont 1992) I like the simplicity of it and it is very striking. I think that one was my second favorite!

I know! I should probably pick just a couple haha but I like seeing all the covers together!

I agree with your pick! I’ve always loved the Jurassic Park movies, but I’ve never read the book. I’d like to do that one day.

I’ve never read the book either! But the movies are awesome 😀 I own a copy but the cover was ripped off so I don’t know which edition it is 😂

Wow that’s an impressive cover gallery 🙂 I love the very first one (so iconic) and the one you picked as a fave- those two would be my picks. I like the blue German one and the LAffont ’92 one as well. These were fun to look at!

Laffont ’92 is my second favorite! Tho the original cover is really good too! And it has withstood the test of time. Usually the original covers are kind of outdated, but not in this case!

OMG this post must have taken FOREVER to put together! I don’t think I realized how many different covers there were for this book. I find it nearly impossible to pick one, but I do love your favorite, it’s a standout:-)

I just go to goodreads and pull all the different editions. It makes it a lot faster! Tho I probably spent more time than I should have haha. 😀

There are just way too many to pick a favorite. I like the one you picked but I like lots of others as well. Glad I am not a publisher.

Thats why I picked out all my favorites first and then picked my favorite from that group! It broke it down into smaller more manageable decisions 😀

This sounds like another fun meme! I love covers and I think you picked a great one out of a huge crowd! ❤️ Though I also like the stark white one with the realistic looking bones too. 😉

This is my favorite meme! This one and the First Impression Friday are the only two that I have been doing regularly. And while I like the other one, this one is my favorite!

I totally agree with you, though that first black-and-white cover is really cool also! Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies (and books, but I like the movies a bit more). Have you seen the movies?

I have seen the movies and I think they are awesome! I have not read the book tho.
Are you excited for the new movie? I am, tho that is mostly because I am in love with Chris Pratt 😍😍

I am! I really like these sequels – it totally feels like the original Jurassic Park movies! lthiugh I will say that the trailer is giving me Lost World vibes – if you compare the second movie to the new trailer, it’s eerily similar. Though I am still excited!

I didn’t really think of it before but you are right! They are kinda similar! But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. A bunch of the Star Wars movies revolve around blowing up a death star but they are all different enough that I still love them!

Nothing wrong with a classic! And how awesome that of all the dozens of covers this book has, you and I share a favorite! That was the one that caught my eye right away.

That is awesome 😀 And that one just kept catching my eye too! I felt like I should have picked a more classic cover but I just kept going back to that one!

WOWZA! There are SOOOO many covers for this book! I haven’t read Jurassic Park, but I’ve heard great things. I completely agree with you on which cover is best. Great choice! 😀

I haven’t read it either, but I like the movies a lot 😀 Thanks!

This is insane. I didn’t even know Jurassic Park was a book until last year, let alone how many covers it has!

I only found out it was a book a year or two ago as well! Its crazy how some movies can become so iconic without it being common knowledge that it was a book first!

I would have gone with your pick also. I don’t think I have read any books with dinosaurs in it.

I was thinking dinosaurs would be an easy topic but it turned out all the covers I was originally thinking of were dragons haha 😂 😂
