I am on page 175 of 434.  That is 40% of the way through the book.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik is one of my favorite books, so when I saw she was writing another book in the same vein I was beyond excited!  I recieved a signed ARC at Comic Con last weekend! I lined up over an hour before her signing began and was the first in line (until I got cut because the workers screwed me but thats a story for another time)

Before reading Spinning Silver I wanted to re-read Uprooted (review to come) and read it in 2 days.  I devoured Uprooted.  Spinning Silver is only 13 pages longer than Uprooted but I have been reading it for 4 days and am only 40% of the way through.

I just can’t get into it.  I like the characters and want to know what happens but I haven’t gotten sucked in.  I’m bored and the book is just dragging along.  I wouldn’t be upset if someone told me the ending so I wouldn’t have to finish it.  I want to know how it ends but I don’t want to put in the time to fight through.

But at the same time I am still hoping it will get better – that I will get sucked in the same way Uprooted pulled me in.  I will finish it, but it might take me a while.  I haven’t given up hope completely!

  1. For what it’s worth: it is a fairly slow book. And the multiple POVs may not be helping as they are sometimes slowing the narrative down even more.

I was a bit stuck for a bit as well but then somehow got into it and really enjoyed it in the end. I really hope it works out for you too, the ending it a bit faster paced, promise! 🙂

    1. Its got a 4.47 average rating and its been rated 482 times on goodreads so I might be the odd one out or the ending might be really good haha. Don’t let my opinions diminish your high hopes!

  2. Im sorry you are estruggling 😐 I felt the begiining was a bit slow, and there is a distance between the characters and the reader which doesnt help. But i did love the book, and the ending surprised me. I hope you dont give up, but dont force yourself o read it either. Good luck!

    1. Thanks! I still want to read it because I loved Uprooted so much! Plus a lot people have been saying it gets better! So that has renewed my hope! I didn’t have any time to read this weekend but I am still planning on finishing it!

  3. Mhmmm, now I’m curious about how I’ll like Spinning Silver! Because though I loved Uprooted it took me a while to get involved with the characters.

I am hyped for your Uprooted review! lol Uprooted was the first book I reviewed!

      1. Oh no! I am so sorry a couple of your notes went to the spam folder and I just now saw them 😦

I used to always try to stick with books but there are just too many books I want to read and forcing myself to read a book I am not enjoying can lead to major reading slumps! So I am working on not always finishing books! And Spinning Silver did turn around! I really enjoyed the ending 🙂
