A Harry Potter related story
Sorry guys! I am a day late with this one. My Uncles came into town unexpectedly for my Niece’s 1st birthday party and I didn’t have time! But better late than never 😀 Instead of 1 long story I have three mini story-memories:
1. The Beginning
My 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Chaney, read us Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Every day she would read a couple of chapters to the class and it was always my favorite time of the day! When she finished the book we begged her to read the second book but she told us that we would have to read it ourselves. Thus began my love of Harry Potter!
2. The Middle
My best friend, Alyissa, and I would always race to read the books as they came out. We would constantly have our noses stuck in a book. One time in particular, I remember our moms were shopping together and we found a spot in the front of the store and read the entire time our moms were shopping. We both loved to read but the only time I remember reading together was Harry Potter.
3. The End
July 20th 2007 I spent the night at my Aunt’s house. A bit before midnight we went to Walmart and got in line to get the Deathly Hallows. They had huge crates of books and the line snaked around the entire inside of the store. It was surreal. At midnight (July 21st) they started selling the Deathly Hallows. We got our copies and were so excited we went home and started reading immediately!
When I think back on the Harry Potter books these are the three main memories that stick in my mind. They aren’t that spectacular but I cherish them nonetheless!
That’s so cool you have such awesome memories attached to reading:)

I have a weird memory that only HP fans will understand. I bought the final two books at Costco, and I got there first thing in the morning when the store opened on the release date. I was able to grab a couple of empty book boxes with the HP artwork on them. I still have thoses boxes, which I think are pretty cool😊

I distinctly remember not leaving my room for the better part of 2 days every time a need book came out. And if my mom made me leave the house to go eat with family or shop or whatever, I always brought the book and read in the restaurant or I waited in the car to read while she shopped.

That sounds like me! I would also re-read the rest of the series every time a new book came out so my seclusion lasted more than two days 😀 I would constantly be reading every chance I got!

Same! I would start the series as soon as Summer started, so that I would be all caught up for the new book. And then once I got through that, I would start all over again. Since it was summer I didn’t actually have anything to do. Except read like a fiend.
