Female Characters That Inspire Me
Women’s History Month Reading Challenge
Women’s History Month Reading Challenge is hosted by Margaret @ Weird Zeal. I am not participating in the actual reading challenge, but Margaret has also come up with a prompt for each Monday in March, and I will be doing those!
Today’s prompt is “Female Characters That Inspire You”
Elizabeth Bennet
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
This should surprise absolutely no one. I love Elizabeth Bennet ❤ She is witty and feisty and smart, but still feminine. She is a romantic and won’t accept marriage without love, in a time where marriages were often matches of convince.
Hermione Granger
Harry Potter by J.K Rowling
Again, this probably isn’t surprising. Hermione is incredibly smart and loyal and I would love to have her as a friend!
Evie Tanaka
Heroine Complex by Sarah Kuhn
Throughout the book you get to watch as Evie comes to accept who she is and even fight for herself. She is used to being in the shadow and she likes it that way, but as she discovers who she is, she also discovers she is stronger than she thought. Evie is incredibly down to earth and realistic!
Agnieszka
Uprooted by Naomi Novik
Agnieszka is amazing. Stolen unexpectedly from the world she knows she thrives nonetheless. She struggles and makes mistakes, but she learns and grows and becomes super strong and badass.
Delilah Bard
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
I love Lila’s outlook on life. She is adventures and funny and daring, and she never gives up!
Annith
Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers
Annith is caring and compassionate and is willing to do everything for her friends. But she is also willing to fight for what she wants. She will not accept the fate chosen for her, instead she chooses her own.
Eelyn
Sky In The Deep by Adrienne Young
Eelyn is a badass fighter and a super amazing person. She fights for what she believes, but is also willing to listen and learn. While she is stubborn, she will also admit when she is wrong and fight for what is right.
Completely randomly I noticed that all 7 of the characters I chose were written by female authors! (I swear I didn’t include or exclude any characters to make this happen! I made my list and it so happened that all the authors were female) I don’t think this is coincidence. Who better to write an inspiring female character than a female author?
What female characters inspire you? Do you love any of the characters I picked? Lets Chat!
These are such great choices! 😀 Lila is SUCH a great character, and I’m really eager to read Sky in the Deep and fall in love with Eelyn too! And that’s so cool that all of these happened to be characters written by women! Makes sense, of course 🙂

Thanks 🙂 And she is!! I hope you love Sky in the Deep ❤ And it does make sense!

Hermione! ❤ I would also love to have Luna Lovegood as a friend as well – I feel Luna would be the person who would inspire me to think outside of the box when it comes to creative ideas. Combine that with Hermione's incredible smarts and those two would be a killer combo.

I tried to keep it to one character per author haha but Luna would be great too ❤

Lizzy and Hermione inspire me too. Although in terms of female Harry Potter characters, I am more inspired by Luna Lovegood. Her outlook is always really positive and she’s not afraid to be herself which is always a great confidence booster.

I’ve always loved Hermione the most! But I like Luna too ❤ and it seems like a lot of people think Luna is more inspiring (or at least equally inspiring) as Hermione

I believe they are equally inspiring, and I do love them both. It’s just that I find Luna that bit more relatable to me.

Beverly Marsh from Stephen King’s IT. Her abusive father taught her to stand up to her fears and a monster. I loved how she grew.

I don’t do horror so I have never read/seem IT, but she sounds awesome!

IT might not be for you. There is some scary stuff.

I love this list so much! I’m currently reading Grave Mercy (and love it), so I’m so excited to get to know Annith better in the next book 😊 Elizabeth and Hermione would’ve both been on my list as well, they’re amazing ❤️

Brittany I have so many posts to catch up with! I don’t know all of them but I do love Hermione! And one lady I’d like to add o-is Roselle St Sismode from Secondborn by Amy Bartol.

Hermione is one of my favorites ❤ And I wasn't a huge fan of Secondborn, but Roselle would make a good edition to the list!

Great list Brittany! Love your choices and agree about Hermione. I love Meg in The Others series. She tries to be true to herself and longs for a place. Awesome character arc through the books. ❤️❤️
