Yesterday I joined the Audiobook Challenge and today I am joining the RetellingsChallenge! This one doesn’t specifically say that you can join whenever but it also doesn’t have a deadline and the link up is still open, so hopefully its ok I am joining late.
The Retellings Reading Challenge is hosted by Cornerfolds! Check out the Sign-Up Page and the Goodreads Group!
THE GUIDELINES
- This challenge will run from January 1, 2019 – December 31, 2019.
- Books must be read and reviewed in 2019. (You don’t have to review books to count towards your goal, but you do have to review them if you want them to count as giveaway entries.)
- Audiobooks, e-books, re-reads, short stories, novellas, and graphic novels all count, and you can read adult, YA, and middle grade books for this challenge.
- It’s also totally fine to use books from this challenge to fulfill other reading challenges and vice versa.
- ALL retellings count!
- You don’t have to be a book blogger to participate! You can link up and track your progress on Goodreads, Instagram, Youtube, or wherever you share books!
- Sign up below with your post, shelf, etc. and leave a comment letting me know what your personal goal is.
- Link up your reviews each quarter on the post provided! (Bookmark this page to make sure you don’t miss a link-up!)
CHALLENGE LEVELS
- Silent Assassin: 1-5 Retellings
- Warrior Princess: 6-10 Retellings
- Elemental Witch: 11-15 Retellings
- High Fae: 16-20 Retellings
- Fairest of them All: 21-25+ Retellings
RETELLINGS BINGO
- Each block describes a book or type of retelling. For example, “Bronte or Austen” means that you can read a retelling of a book by one of the Bronte sisters or Jane Austen to complete that category. “Debut author” means that you can read any author’s debut book.
- Getting BINGO (making a line vertically, horizontally, or diagonally on the card) will get you an additional 5 entries in the end of year giveaway!
- If you get a Bingo blackout (filling the entire card), you get an additional 10 entries in the giveaway!
- Right click to save the card to your computer!
I am going to try for Warrior Princess: 6-10 Retellings!
So far I have read two retellings: Heartstone and Second Hand Curses.
Heartstone is a Pride and Prejudice re-telling with Dragons! (This would work for either the “Bronte or Austen” or “One Word Title” squares) Second Hand Curses is a mixed up retelling of Frankenstein, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Pied Piper, plus more, all rolled up into one awesome story. (Luckily this is a Stand-Alone book, so I can use it for that square because I have no idea if it fits any of the other ones!)
My next reads are going to be Hunted and Sherwood. Hunted is a Beauty and the Beast retelling and Sherwood is a Robin Hood retelling!
If I were better at challenges I would totally join this!

I’ve never done a challenge but I figured this was a safe easy ish one that I would probably come close to anyway!

I thought about doing this one too because I LOVE retellings but I think with all the other challenges I have going on it’s gonna be difficult. Good luck, looking forward to seeing what all books you choose for this and your thoughts on them!

This is only 1 of 2 challenges for me haha And I picked a really low tier 😂😂 What is your favorite re-telling? I need some more to add to my list 😀 And Thanks!

There are a ton by Robin McKinley I love. Everyone seems to love Beauty more but I’m partial to Rose Daughter (and Sunshine is a loose retelling of BatB with a vampire). Spindles end was good too. I LOVE East by Edith Pattou. I just read A Curse So Dark and Lonely and thought that was fun.

Haha I have no idea what you mean? You could pick Silent Assassin: 1-5 Retellings and read one book and be successful 😂 You don’t have to do the Bingo Card! Its as easy or hard as you want to make it

This is not the challenge for me. I do not read a lot of retelling, but I know you enjoy them. Good luck.

Haha with how many books you read I am surprised more of them are not retellings! But, everyone has their own tastes 😀 Thanks!
