Special Mention:
The thumbnail for this one is super hard to read but when you see it bigger the artwork is really intricate and I like it a lot!

I love the barren landscape in this one with all the holes and the thumb mountain waaaay off in the back.
I can’t believe there are so many covers! Even if it’s because they are from different countries!

Haha at this point, I think any book with a Newberry Medal have like a million covers 😂

For such a classic, I’m surprised not more covers are jumping out at me this week. If I had to choose though, I’d choose your pick as well 😀

Haha I didn’t love any of them at first either, but the more I looked a couple started to stand out a little 😂

What a great choice of book. It never occurred to me but it’s perfect – I like your choice and also the Bloomsbury 15 with the simple black on yellow cover.

Thanks 😀 And I like that one too! I was drawn to a lot of the covers with the lizard outlines.

Wow, so many covers. I will give that one to you, but my heart is with the Scholastic 2000. That is the one I read to my students for several years and the one that I own.

That is the one I read in school! It will always be the cover I think of when I think of Holes.

There are so many Holes covers! I love this book — and I never would have found it without my Great Newbery Quest. 🙂
Hmmm. I love the Special Mention a ton. Other than that? Vitamin 2016. And my least favorite is definitely Trei. You’re so right. What’s with those weird faces?!

Haha thats a great way to find it 😀 I read it in Middle School.
I think if I had the books in person the special mention might have been my favorite but its just to hard to see what is going on!! And I like the Vitamin 2016 a lot too 😀

The fact that there is so much going on is what I love about the special mention cover. If you’ve read the book, you get it. If not, it’s probably a bit… confusing? Either way, it’s mesmerizing!

What a huge choice – though yes – I also think your favourite is the best one. It looks an intriguing read and a brilliantly appropriate book for this week’s them. Have you read it?

I have read it! It was one of the books we had to read in Middle School. Its good! They also made it into a movie which was pretty good.
