Friday Face Off is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, and run by Lynn’s Book Blog. You can check out all my past Friday Face Offs here.
This week’s theme is technically “Scary” but I am changing it to “Creepy” because I have done scary before.
“Is evil something you are? Or is it something you do?”
This weeks theme: A creepy cover.
My Choice: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
This is the first (relatively) scary book I read. And, because I read the book my parents let me watch the movie, even though it was rated R and I wasn’t 17. They figured if I read the book I deserved to watch the movie.
I’ve also actually seen the outside of the house from the story (the statue is no longer there, it was moved to a museum) which is why I bought and read the book in the first place.

While I absolutely love the big bold yellow font of the other cover, this is the edition I own, and it just gives off a creepy vibe, so I have to pick it.
I agree with your choice, it’s the clean and modern in a good way. I like how the main theme of this book/the statue has been passed down throughout the book cover ages and has been utilized on most of these covers. Interesting choice.

Its been so long since I read the book, I don’t even remember if the statue played a significant role in the book 😂 But I like how most of the covers use it, it makes it more recognizable!

I like your choice, in fact I think it’s the cover of the book I read too.
I love the statue.

I definitely agree with your choice. That one does give way more of a creepy vibe than the bigger text.

That it does! normally I don’t like creepy so maybe that is why I like the bigger text so much 😂

As I can’t stand creepy I’d go with the vintage edition Brittany 😉

Haha I can’t usually stand creepy either. This book was an unusual one for me to read, especially when I was a kid haha.

I’m not a big fan of the redish boarder on the second one, but I like that it is basically the original cover!

That’s my favorite one too, though I may be biased because that’s the edition I own too!

Some nice atmospheric covers for this one. I like the first two favorites as well, and the Random House ’98 one as well!

I had a hard time picking between my first two favorites haha, but in the end the cover I own won out.
