Wyrd & Wonder Mic Drop (a book you’d have preferred didn’t get a sequel)

Today’s prompt is “Mic Drop: a brilliant stand-alone, a book you prefer to pretend didn’t get a sequel, or any other interpretation you fancy!”

I knew immediately what book I’d prefer didn’t have a sequel:

Full Disclosure: I never actually finished Vengeful. But that is a big indicator on how not great it was.  Sure I’ve DNFed books before, but never a book I was that excited about.  I was SUPER excited for Vengeful and I just couldn’t get into it.

I know I’m not alone in thinking this, but I think I am in the minority?  Vengeful actually has a higher rating than Vicious on GoodReads (4.24 vs 4.23) which surprised me.  I do want to give it another try someday because I LOVED Vicious, but for now, I am happier pretending Vengeful doesn’t exist.

Besides, Vicious was perfectly wrapped up.  The were no loose threads.  It was definitely a stand alone book.  We didn’t NEED a sequel (though I know we all wanted one)

What do you think? Did you like Vengeful? Why or why not? Do you think I should give it another try? Lets chat!

  1. *gasp* nooo! Haha I honestly didn’t think I’d love Vengeful as much as I loved Vicious but… I might have loved it even more! I think going into the book it’s good to manage expectations about how much time you’ll spend with Victor and Mitch! You also get a lot more Sydney and Eli in this book and of course the new characters — some of whom are annoying AF and others that are insane but badass. I loved how we get to learn more about how people get their powers too. I do agree that Vicious was wrapped up pretty nicely though I still loved Vengeful 😂

    1. Haha maybe I need to give it another shot! The consensus in my comments seems to be that people liked it! And yea managing expectations is super important. I think I was just getting annoyed that they took the perfect ending in Vicious of Victor being brought back and threw a wrench in it by making him have issues with his power

  2. Oooh, as soon as I saw the picture for this post, I was like … yes. xD Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED Vicious, and I enjoyed Vengeful, but definitely not as much as the first book. I loved the Victor/Eli dynamic, and I feel like Vengeful strayed a bit too far from that. I didn’t care so much for the other EOs that were introduced, though I AM excited to see the world expand. So it’s a bit of a mixed bag for me, though I did feel like Vicious was pretty well self-contained.
