Kiss, Marry, Ciff Tag

Let’s take another trip down memory lane with “Kiss, Marry, Kill” (or cliff is the slightly less morbid version) Yesterday I played M.A.S.H and today I get to play “Kiss, Marry, Kill” Both were games we used to pass the time with when I was a kid and I love the bookish versions of both!

I first saw this game at Living the Caffeinated Bookworm Life and absolutely loved it! More recently I have seen it going around as a tag created by PerformingBookFelf.  Anyway, I have seen a lot of other people do it, including Cat on the Bookshelf, and The Orangutan Librarian!

These are the rules:

  • Put names of characters, written on separate pieces of papers, in an empty jar or a pen holder.
  • Shake the jar.
  • Pull out three pieces of paper in each round and tell us which character you would kiss, marry, or cliff!

Instead of writing the names down and getting a jar, I just made a list, numbered it and then used a random number generator to pick my rounds.

I listed 45 characters but am only going to do 10 rounds (so 15 of the characters won’t get featured.) I tried to do roughly 2/3 rds characters I liked and 1/3 rd characters I didn’t.  Here is my full list:

Round 1: Snape, Robin Hood, Gale Hawthorne

A nice easy one to start with!

  • Kiss – Gale
  • Marry – Robin Hood
  • Cliff – Snape

Round 2: Newt Scamander, Wade Watts, Prince John

Tough Choice to Marry Newt or Wade but Newt wins because he is just so quirky and adorable

  • Kiss – Wade Watts
  • Marry – Newt Scamander
  • Cliff – Prince John

Round 3: Joffery Baratheon, Aragorn, Arthur Dent

Another super easy one!

  • Kiss – Arthur Dent
  • Marry – Aragorn
  • Cliff – Joffery Baratheon

Round 4: Jon Snow, Remus Lupin, Prince Robot IV

This was tough but I think Remis would make a much better husband than Jon Snow.

  • Kiss – Jon Snow
  • Marry – Remis Lupin
  • Cliff – Prince Robot IV

Round 5: Tyrion Lannister, Nate, Sheriff of Nottingham

Again super easy!

  • Kiss – Tyrion Lannister
  • Marry – Nate
  • Cliff – Sheriff of Nottingham

Round 6: The Will, Aaron, the Dragon

I don’t want to kill any of them!!!! I love them all! But The Will is a mercenary so he probably deserves it most 😦

  • Kiss – Aaron
  • Marry – the Dragon
  • Cliff – The Will

Round 7: Frodo Baggins, Cardan, Westley

I don’t want to kill any of these either! I guess I will have to go with Cardan because he is the most evil.

  • Kiss – Frodo Baggins
  • Marry – Westley
  • Cliff – Cardan

Round 8: Khal Drogo, Legolas, Edward Cullen

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezey

  • Kiss – Kahl Drogo
  • Marry – Legolas
  • Cliff – Edward Cullen

Round 9: Sorrento, Darvish, Count Rugen

This is the first one I have wanted to “Cliff” two characters! I guess I will have to kiss Count Rugen *shudders*

  • Kiss – Count Rugen
  • Marry – Darvish
  • Cliff – Sorrento

Round 10: Fitzwilliam Darcy, Marko, Peeta Mellark

Noooooo! This is by far the hardest.  All three of these are such amazing men. RIP Marko 😥

  • Kiss – Peeta Mellark
  • Marry – Fitzwilliam Darcy
  • Cliff – Marko

M.A.S.H Book Tag

I saw this tag at Journey Into Books and immediately knew I needed to participate! I used to play M.A.S.H all the time. It brings back great memories of giggling in class and wishing the game would predict an amazing life with the guy you happened to have a crush on, at the time.  It was silly and fun game and this tag is amazing!

  • Link back to my original post on Kyera’s Library so I can see all your answers! (Be sure to do this via pingback, I don’t get notified if you just tag my URL)
  • Thank the person(s) who tagged you… show the community some love!
  • Obviously, come up with your wonderful answers!
  • Don’t forget to tag others to keep the tag going!

If you don’t know how to play M.A.S.H then head on over to Kyera’s post, or just google it 🙂 I am not going to try and explain it.

My memories of playing this game include writing out everything in our notebooks, so for nostalgia’s sake I did it on a piece of paper! We also always used to do “3 Positives and 1 Negative” so the first three things, in every category, are ones I want and the last 1 is one I don’t.

Please ignore my penmanship and any spelling errors! Also drawing a spiral with your eyes closed is really hard.

Book Scavenger Hunt

Disclaimer: All Amazon Links are affiliate links.  If you purchase any of these books through one of my links I will get a small commission! All the thoughts/opinions in this post are mine and in no way influenced by Amazon.

I saw this scavenger hunt done by Bookworm Book Club and it was really cool, so I decided to do it too!  I tried to find the original poster and as far as I can figure out it was originally created by The Library of Sarah, but her video post has been deleted.

If you read my last Lit Cube Reveal I said I was going to start trying to take “cool” pictures (often refered to as “Bookstagram” pictures)  So this post is also my first attempt at that.  I didn’t try that hard, it was more just a quick dip to see high level what works and what doesn’t.

1. Find an author name or title with a Z in it.

Maze Runner

I ran out of room using my bookshelf traditionally, so some of my stacking gets a little creative

2. Find a classic.

There are at least two classics in my picture for #1.  Can you find them?  Here is another classic I have:

Great Expectations

3. Find a book with a key on it.

Skeleton Key

I cheated a little with this one.  The closest I could find was the word “Key” but no picture.  I added my Pirates of the Caribbean key so technically it has a key on it.

4. Find something on your bookshelf that is not a book.

I have lots of things on my bookshelves that are not books, but here are all my funko pop figurines:

5. Find the oldest book on your shelf.

Egypt’s Queen Cleopatra

Silver Doll

I am not sure which one is actually older.  Egypt’s Queen was published in 1963, but my copy is a third printing from 1964.  (I got it from my Great Grandma)  Silver Doll was published in 1952, but my copy is a re-print.  I couldn’t figure out what year it was printed in. (I got it at a garage sale)

6. Find a book with a girl on it.

The Selection

The Crown

Happily Ever After

I thought these looked cool with the girls on the spines, so I chose all three of them.

7. Find a book that has an animal in it.

The Golden Compass

There are lots of animals in this one!  Also I like using my Funko Pops in the pictures.  I like how it turned out.

8. Find a book with a male protagonist.

Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones is awesome! I even dressed up as him for Halloween once:

9. Find a book with only words on the cover.

Webster’s Dictionary

This was my Mom’s dictionary in college.  It is the 9th edition, I believe the newest edition is the 11th.

10. Find a book with illustrations in it.

This is one of my favorite graphic novels.  Its got really cool illustrations.

11. Find a book with gold lettering.

True Believer

I tried to add all the gold things I could find into the picture.  All I could find is Gold $1 coins and Dr. Strange.

12. Find a diary, true or fictional.

American Diaries: Janey G. Blue

American Diaries: Nell Dunne

I really liked how this picture turned out even though it was super simple.

13. Find a book written by and author with a common name (like Smith).

New Moon

Breaking Dawn

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

Both “Stephanie” and “Meyer” are common names.

14. Find a book with a close up of something on it.

The Chronicles of Narnia

These were all next to each other and I couldn’t decide which one to use so I used them all.

15. Find a hardcover book without a jacket.

The Tale of Despereaux

I think this was my Sister’s book.  I have no idea what happened to the jacket.

16. Find a teal/turquoise colored book.

The Tin Princess

Funny story about this book.  I have no idea where this book came from.  I don’t remember ever having seen it before.  But when I pulled it out because of the color I got really excited because it is the same author that wrote The Golden Compass.  I guess it was super silly of me, but I didn’t realize he had written anything else.

17. Find a book with stars on it.

Disney On Ice Coloring Book

I love to color and I love Disney so I love this book! Also coloring books totally count as books.

18. Find a non YA book.

I bet everyone else does boring old adult books for this one, but I went the opposite way and picked a children’s book.  Also the book has nothing to do with trains, but it was a toy that I had handy for the pic and I didn’t have a train book.

In case you guys were curious, here are pictures of my “Library” where I took all the pictures:

And yes, that is a giant bean bag that is great for reading on!

Let me know if you do this tag! It was a lot of fun, and I discovered some books on my bookshelves that I didn’t even know I had.
