I was a little disappointed in these because I don’t really want OwlCrate gear, I want bookish goodies.  But the socks are to celebrate OwlCrate’s 5th anniversary and the speaker is so you can listen to their bookish playlists they have been including in the magazine, so I guess I understand why they are OwlCrate and not book related.

The candle smells AMAZING and I love candles so I am always happy to have more.  The lip scrub is cool and I am excited to try it, but they need a better container, this one didn’t hold very well and you can see on the lid how greasy it got because it leaked. Luckily it didn’t get on any of the other stuff and I have it safely inside a ziplock now (which is why it didn’t make it into the overall picture haha)

I love the Hedwig bookplates and will definitely use them!!  The Monsters of Verity wooden art print is cool because it is wood, but I am out of places to display things.  So the same thing for the Phantom of the Opera poster.  Its cool, but I don’t have a place for it.

The Kingdom of Back is a historical fiction book which could be good.  I like the regular cover better, but this is probably not something I would have chosen to read normally.

Overall I didn’t love this box.  The only two things I really liked are the candle and the bookplates.  If the speaker was book themed I would have liked it way better!!

Next Month’s Theme:

We get a puzzle next month!!! I’m excited for that!

  2. I have to agree with you!! Too much “owlcrate” themed things. I WISH the speaker was book themed too! I need to start posting these but I don’t ever have the time to take all the photos. haha.

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that! I know it was there anniversary but really it was too much owlcrate stuff! A book themed speaker would have been so awesome!! And I don’t spend a lot of time on the pictures haha Some people get super creative with their pics 🤣 I just snap a quick picture as I am taking everything out of the box!

      1. Ohhhh, that’s smart! I should do that!! I just don’t have time for all the pictures! Pretty much, the only reason they are not stacked somewhere, is bc my husband loves to open them up! He’s usually doing it and showing me the awesome stuff. YESSSS!! Such a missed opportunity with that speaker!! So bummed!

  5. Sorry to hear this wasn’t the best box. Not having room to store art, etc. is one of the main reasons I haven’t subscribed to these boxes. The art in this one is cool though. I love the enamel pin and I’m excited to read The Kingdom of Back because i love historical reads and I tend to enjoy Lu’s books so I think it’s a good fit for me.

  8. Oh damnit, I wish I had gotten this box lmao. I really love the Phantom poster artwork, lip scrub (bummer on the leaking though), and the enamel pin. I have an ARC for the book but slump means I’ve read about 12 pages of it. But I liked what I’ve read so far! Sorry this box was a bit of a dud for you.
